Everything was great. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and spacious.nAffordable prices. The service was excellent.
My Mum and I came here on a Friday night to enjoy great vegetarian food (we’re both veggie) as per the really good reviews we read before coming here.nnWe shared the tacos and burrito. Sadly, both dishes were bland and tasteless.nWith all the variety of the lovely fresh food available in the local market the dishes could have been packed with flavour. This was not the case.nnUnfortunately, our experience at this restaurant was disappointing. The service felt inattentive and unaccommodating, with staff appearing disengaged and indifferent to our presence. It gave the impression that our server was more focused on finishing their shift than providing a welcoming or attentive experience. We had hoped for better hospitality and left feeling let down with both the food and service.
Really surprised how wonderful this place was! Beautiful decor, great (vegan) food and friendly staff. Will be returning here soon!
Shady tables by a pool, delicious Asian noodle bowl and Indian style burger
Amazing place, amazing food very nice people and service, nice plants and atmosphere. We really enjoyed there and definitely coming back. The tacos are amazing I recommend
Coco Calala is a great restaurant with incredibly delicious vegetarian cuisine. We were in Leon, except for one time, we only had food there. In all of Latin America we haven't even eaten as well as we did there!nThe ambience is also great! The pool, the plants and the overnight stay there were simply beautiful and relaxing.
I was a bit disappointed. I ordered a pesto spaghetti with grilled vegetables but the only vegetables were 4 fried mini tomatoes which were delicious but I had expected much more. My husband had a Thai green curry with loads of vegetables but very little rice. The taste was good but it is not thai. So to put it simply I did not like how the dishes were balanced especially the spaghetti. It is a truly beautiful place
The attention of the person in charge is terrible, in very bad taste, with no desire for people to come and enjoy the pool...we are Nicaraguan, we should treat ourselves well, empathy, please, empathy.
Highly NOT recommended!nn2nd time visiting the place and got the same disdaining look.nTried giving a second chance thinking the first time was simply my perception, but as it turned out. It wasn’t!nnWe were a group of 3 + a baby. Upon arrival the owner was right at the front-desk. He started by looking at us up and down as we came in. The disdainful look I perceived was definitely not my imagination. I did not share my thoughts to the rest of the group.nI asked if we could use the pool and his answer was “Can you read the sign?”. The sign contained all the pool usage rules.nnBecause multiple tables seemed busy we stayed at a table under a pergola before the pool area.nHe approached us and said the area is restricted to guess only.nnWe moved to another table where a couple of acquaintances were.nThe waiter brought the menu, and we started to get ready to order. It was interesting seeing the owner go to the bar area right after we got the menu.nnAs some of the gals went to the bathrooms to change into their bathing suits.nThe waitress approached us to take our order -I thought-.nShe said the supervisor send her over to tell us we could not use the pool because there were too many people at the tables.nI counted the people in the pool, they were 5 in total.nnThe waitress did not even attempt to ask if I was ordering and simply moved to give the bill to our acquaintances.nI proceeded to go tell the rest to leave because they were not going to be able to use the pool.nnI can’t believe I had sent guests staying at my guesthouse telling them they have good service.nAs we left, a family of 5 came in and the welcome was definitely different, and even said they could use the pool.nnI can only add that very few times I have felt judged in this way. But never by a Nicaraguan with delusions of superiority.
The manager received us in a bad way. In addition to that, he charged extra just for sitting and consuming, I think it is somewhat exaggerated since he was with the whole family. The very obnoxious man told us that he had no space for us when it was literally almost empty.
Huge portions, very tasty, and really nice setting in a gardens. Reasonably priced also for a western style menu that's mostly vegan.nnMenu is 90% vegan, (there can be cheese on a few things), but everything is veganisable, with cashew or other alternatives as options as well for no extra charge etc.nnThere's also a swimming pool you can use for c100 which is clean and looks inviting.nnLoved it here!!!
Most beautiful poolside restaurant I have been to in Nicaragua. I am not vegan but the food here is absolutely delicious, very healthy and very filling. Even the fries were incredible. Coco Calala also had the best cocktails I have had in Leòn! I will be coming back tomorrow.
Growing up one of my favorite meals was yuka fries and these were the best yuka fries I’ve ever had.nnFair price and huge variety! Even some asain dishes. Our non vegetarian friends also approved and were enthusiastic about this place :)
Food and drinks were very good! It is a vegan restaurant, but we didn’t even miss the meat.nCome prepared with bathing suit to enjoy the pool. It’s a beautiful oasis; perfect to cool off from the heat! $150 NIO to use pool facilities with no food or $100 NIO to use pool facilities if you order food.nGreat value!
Such a cute spot for breakfast for vegetarians and vegans! We had the burritos and pancakes which were fab - great portion sizes too. They had oat and soya milk for coffee. Lots of shade and a cute location to chill.
Delicious food, long wait.
Probably the most relaxing restaurant in León. You loose yourself here and don’t feel you are even in the city. An actual Vegan place with options. All great. I don’t have one negative thing to say. You will like it even if you don’t eat a vegan diet. And you can even jump in the pool if you are prepared for it, albeit at an additional price but worth every cord.
The food is very delicious, the price is fair and the portions are adequate to satisfy you. The atmosphere is calm, suitable for all audiences. Only the service is a little slow
Was always very tasty and cheap, smoothies were very large!
Drinks and desserts are ok but honestly the wait is extremely long for really basic meals.nThe hot dog is just bread and sauce, the burritos are mostly rice.nThe reception is very mixed and the nonchalance is exasperating.nWe will not come back.
We ate breakfast/lunch here everyday because it was just that good and the prices are more than fair! On our third visit we were even gifted some banana bread, which was amazing, Thank you so much! :)
A little paradise in this city. I would book there again at any time!
To be honest we were pretty disappointed with this restaurant after hearing and seeing such good reviews. Perhaps we should have chosen something more safe but the Thai curry just wasn’t a Thai curry and really lacked flavour. It’s a lovely setting in a beautiful garden but we also didn’t feel the service and vibe of the staff was great.
You can sit beautifully in the garden and enjoy the vegan or vegetarian breakfast in peace. It was beautifully prepared and tasted great! The only negative point is that the pool also has to be paid for by consumers.
Very tasty food for a really good price! I had the Asian noodle salad and it was delicious. The orange and beetroot juice was also very tasty. A little oasis in the nice backyard. I'm annoyed that I was only there on the last evening in Leon. For me one of the best restaurants of my entire Central America trip.
Sweet little spot. Room is very basic, but clean. Great food and drink at restaurant, which brings in quite a few people, but rooms are still very private and quiet at night. Pool is very nice and a great place to hang out during heat of the afternoon.nOur bus was two hours late and Enrique waited up for us until 11:30 pm to get us into our room. All staff were very friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend.
I think I managed to go here 5 times in 3 days! Best vegan food in Leon. Highly recommend the nachos, asian noodle salad, and tacos. Breakfast burrito is amazing too. The setting is gorgeous and you can use the pool too. Only thing to note is that while it seems everything can be made vegan, they also have cheese and eggs (at least on the breakfast menu) so just confirm when ordering certain items. I was a little confused because I thought it was 100% vegan at first. I think all the desserts are vegan.
The only purely vegan shop in Leon, therefore a must visit! The ambience is really nice (use of the pool costs extra), but unfortunately the food can't (yet) keep up with the location. The salad tasted rather bland and the cake is ok. With a little more creative courage on the menu, there is still potential here :)
The owner became aggressive with me. He showed an arrogant, despotic, and defiant attitude. He asked me why I had left and then returned, to which I replied that I didn't like the offer they were providing. After that, he didn't allow me to use the pool. He made many excuses because he didn't like my answer to his question.nnThe owner got aggressive with me. He showed an arrogant, despotic and defiant attitude. Great garden, but they still charged the pool for us.nWe have 4 drinks and 2 desserts. There was no mention of this on the menu either.nThe food took a long time and some items were not available. Service staff were not informed about the types of tea. One waiter had something different for another. We are vegan and pay attention to health:nUnfortunately, Passionfruit Basil has sugar… it’s not on the menu.nBurger bread is a white burger roll in the picture that used to be completely different. I don't tie it to the burger creations.nSalad was not at all fresh and crunchy.nnIt's a shame, they're the only vegans locally in León, they benefit from that.
beautiful garden, clean pool, good food and good music
Very nice courtyard, with free use of the pool. Lots of seating areas in the shade as well as in the sun. The Ceaser salad is highly recommended, unfortunately the Burger La Francesa is not. The burger was tasty, but the patty was soggy beans and had nothing to do with a patty substitute.
Awesome place, super atmosphere in the yard and delicious food
The place is very beautiful, the combination of colonial architecture and nature is impeccable. The menu could be broader. They almost never offer the complete menu. The attention is poor, you don't feel cared for at all, they don't make you feel welcome, unless you are a foreigner.
A super nice and relaxed place, if you consume you can use the pool for 100 córdobas.nMaría and Luis were attentive and gave excellent suggestions.nI don't remember the name of the man who welcomed me but he was a loving person.nI will definitely eat everything on the menu again little by little.nI recommend the cauliflower tacos, the Indu burger and the pineapple, turmeric and orange soda.
Everything was perfect! It was the best food I had in a while especially looking for vegan options in Central America. The waiters speak English which is also quite rare in Nicaragua. The restaurant is located in a beautiful yard with a pool. Will definitely come back while I’m in Leon.
Wonderfully rich vegan food and fresh drinks in a heavenly atmosphere at fair prices.nPlant Power!
