The food was delicious, the best pasta I've ever eaten, it's a very cozy place and the service is excellent!!
Great place. The owner/chef is super friendly, he also knows his stuff. His standard of quality/sanitation is above most. The atmosphere is amazing with beautiful art work and plant foliage throughout the dining area. Def stop here if you are looking for a quality meal and or ice cream!
What a delightful restaurant! I LOVED my carrot cake waffles! My husband used the maple syrup that came w it but I ate them without the additional sweetness. Just a tiny dab of butter and they were amazing! I ate every crumb. The hot cocoa is yummy too! I had two servings of it! Highly recommend this place. Oh…and the owner writes awesome books too. He’s often there and has the most interesting tales. Enjoy this marvelous experience when you’re in the area.
We had a great dinner here!
Unfortunately I didn't have a good experience.nWe were really in the mood for pasta and discovered the restaurant as we walked past.nWhen we entered, we were immediately told that we should sit at the front of the door, even though there was still some space in the back.nWell, there must have been reasons.nUnfortunately, the critical eye continued throughout our entire visit. Maybe it was our casual clothing. I don't know it. It definitely didn't make us feel comfortable.nThe food was super tasty and exactly what we imagined. Unfortunately I didn't get it.nWhen we wanted to pay separately, we were pointedly pointed out that the card said that you should let us know in advance, otherwise it would be too complicated to split the bill. We had two main courses and two drinks… The notice was definitely not particularly marked.nReally a shame. I hope it was just an exception.
They recommended the place to me and being a tourist I was very excited; However, the waiter's attention didn't even let me continue looking at the menu due to the poor attention.nI don't recommend it!
This place has delicious dishes and an amazing atmosphere, the service is very kind.
Excellent place! I went with my partner for dinner and the atmosphere is very cozy, we were served by “Luz” and she is very professional and friendly. We will definitely return to this restaurant…
Delicious pasta! And the variety of excellent local beers!
My first order was for delivery and everything was very good. It came well packaged, freshly made and tasty.
Great spot on the rooftop. You can't quite see the park but the breeze and volcano view are great. I ordered Ceasars salad with chicken and it was excellent with super tender chicken and a ton of parmesan. Service was great as well.
The carpaccio was great! I also enjoyed the mojito.
Rooftop table was the move!
Sobremesa is a hidden gem in Antigua. We went there for ice cream, not knowing anything about the restaurant prior. They had the most interesting assortment of flavors and gelato combinations, we were astounded! Our favorites were the Kulfi and chocolate hazelnut, but the roasted strawberry white chocolate and pistachio cardamom chocolate brownie were also delicious. The owner was so friendly, he took our order and shared his unique story with us. You will have to visit to get the full scoop! Highly recommend!
We were in Antigua for a week and went around trying local spots in town. We came across Sobremesa by chance and enjoyed it so much we went there again on our last full day in town. The food was amazing, and the atmosphere was very welcoming. Chef Alex came out to give us our dessert. Over the two trips there we tried the chicken and cheese panini, steak panini, squid ink fettuccine, hibiscus margaritas, basil mojitos and two different desserts: the Pecado Split and one with grilled pineapple ice cream and a jalapeño sauce. I can't stress enough how amazing everything was. A definite must try!
Great pasta place in Antigua
Awesome little place. Ate on the pretty little rooftop at lunchtime. We had crostini, meatball sub, steak sub and a margarita pizza. Delicious. Awesome drink selection. Ps the Antigua local beer is a dark stout.
Lovely little place we stumbled upon. Had a great lunch at a decent price. We tried on of the pizzas and a couple.of the sandwiches. All of the food was excellent and the service was great. We sat in the back and it was cool.and peaceful. Would highly recommend.
The linguini piccata with salmon was amazing, and the staff was very kind and attentive. Definitely recommend!
Excellent service and one of my new favorite spots in Antigua! They have a wide selection of dishes and sobremesas to choose from. Ask the owner who is more than helpful to give recommendations. Thank you!
We were in Antigua last week and had to go to Sobremesa twice!!! We took a young couple there to celebrate their engagement. Fabulous food!!!! And then we went on our last day to have one more hibiscus margarita!!! The best! Can’t wait to come back to Guatemala!!!
Super unique restaurant in Antigua. Owner/Chef is very charismatic and has created a great menu with ver innovative dishes that you have to try. He also decorated with his own artwork to give the restaurant a great atmosphere
The Wendy Pizza was one of the best pizzas I've ever had, but they changed one of the toppings on the pizza and didn't reflect it on the menu. The pizza has Chipotle, but not what you're thinking. It did have Chipotle now it has a cream Chipotle sauce that belonged on a pasta, not pizza. The texture was absolutely disgusting, and it tasted as if you left cream to spoil and threw on the pizza. It ruined the pizza. The street food is 1000x better than this place. Save your money. Don't gonnEdit: Apologies as i dont know how to respond directly. I got lucky the sauce was thrown on with much thought since most of the pizza did not have it. I left the two and half slices that had the most. And I'm sure the waiter will tell you I used 6 napkins trying to make the pizza better scraping off that sauce. I had the pizza two times back in 2022 and it did not have any sauce. It was whole Chipotle peppers and it was delicious. If it had sauce I wouldn't have came back. I did not mention anything because I knew that nothing could've been done. I'm aware there are no refunds and I wouldn't be able to order anything else so it would have been wasted breath.
Sobremesa, in my humble opinion, is the best restaurant in Antigua. I have dined here several times over the years with consistent excellent experiences. I’ve sampled different parts of the menu each time with every plate being satisfying. The service is great. What makes this place special is the passion of the owner. This is reflected in the superior dishes that are delicious, the staff who are attentive, and the environment that is joyful. Alex is entertaining, caring, and a true host to all of his guests. He takes extra time to explain his many paintings as well as his menu of interesting (to say the least) cuisine in whimsical fashion; i have not been to another restaurant where the chef (let alone the owner) treats the guests this well. Anyone visiting Antigua should not miss out on this special experience.
Food mediocre, expensive, 18% tip surcharge, friendly service
I loved the place, the attention and the delicious food.
The food was delicious, the meat as requested, juicy. This place is recommended, it also has a very nice atmosphere.
Funnest, and most impressive dining experience we’ve had in a long time! The food is excellent in unique ways, Alex the owner is an amazing host and man of many talents. He and his team offer excellent service and make for a fun time by remembering everyone’s name as if you were old friends. (Impressive as there were 13 of us in our group) Each dish was great and everyone was happy! The desserts (Sobremessas) are complex and decadent including unique ice creams from his exotic ice cream shop around the corner. Ask him about his art and his books! Hasta la proxima!
Dined on the roof in the evening and enjoyed the raucous, festive sounds of the city. Tomato bisque was just ok, the Caesar salad was tasty and the Margherita pizza had loads of mozzarella cheese as did the lasagna which was just meh (way too much cheese for our taste). Friendly service and a chef who is also an author
Top tier. You will not regret eating here.
The atmosphere is very warm and clean, perhaps sometimes with meals that have a lot of cheese, the smell is contained for a few minutes.nActually I only had dessert, very rich and good tasting. Somewhat expensive. Q40 approx each.nnIt is in a place where it may be a little difficult to find parking.
We ordered two paninis, one with chicken and one with meatballs, both very tasty and filling. However, we also ordered some mushroom soups that lacked a little more flavor. The drinks were delicious and natural. We ordered several juices, and the horchata was the best I've tried in Guatemala. ❤️ Beautiful view from the terrace!
The price was too high for the quality of the food and products used. The pasta sauce was watery.
This is a great place to eat right in the centre of Antigua and on a rooftop.
We had a large family group and we got a table for 12 people even though the place was very busy during New Year’s Eve. Ww had some sangrias, steak, pasta, pizza and salmon. Both drinks, and food were delicious and fulfilling. The service and atmosphere were also great and we were able to end the night as a VIO on top of the restaurant terrace and watch the city fireworks show at midnight. I have a feeling we will come back to this restaurant and hang out with Alex the owner every time we come back to Antigua.nI highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking to have a great experience.
Great food & service; had a great time with family celebrating New Year's. Loved Chiltepe pasta with lomito and sangria. Will definitelly comeback.
