Not referring to the food of this place just to the service. If a guy (Joe) is approaching you when you for example arrive at the el pital hostel or eat there and wants to plan a trip with you like hiking, it is not really trustworthy. He let us wake up at 4:30 am in the morning and cancelled the hiking trip with no information two hours later and let us wait the entire time on the road. He gave us some kind of sudden excuse about the transport which did not seem honest since he was partying the night before and his phone was not reachable the entire time during waiting for him.
A great gem for local eating! The owner was incredibly nice and the food was well worth the very affordable price, definitely worth the stop by.

Food was so-so - I've definitely eaten better. The friendliness and service didn't blow me away and were ignored in some cases. There are better alternatives but you can go there for a quick snack.

Really delicious food! I came here for dinner on a Sunday even though google says it is closed and it was so fresh and very tasty. The best local meal I’ve had yet in Nicaragua. This costed 150cordobas too.

This a place I highly recommend. Jo‘s family is so welcoming, the food is super delicious and you should definitely ask for their cookies! You can feel that jo is the center of the community and can ask him about anything in Ometepe! We even got a super friendly and cheap taxi driver to San Juan del sur. btw jo is multilingual! I was here, with a group of crazy germans . Normally they cannot be satisfied. But here they were totally happy and enjoyed the national food. We'll be back on the way back from our trip. We love it.

Loved Jefecitas place. Very nice place and fresh, local food. Even vegetarian and vegan options and not far away from El Pital. Totally recommend going there.
Perfect place to eat delicious, local, fresh food and smoothies if staying in Balgüe- especially if staying at El Pital and want something cheaper, (located just opposite the entrance to El Pital on the main road). Super friendly family that owns this local restaurant and there are veggie and vegan options too. Definitely pay a visit!!
The Jefecita is incredibly nice and makes super delicious, very fresh, local food. There are vegan and vegetarian options. We were here every day and highly recommend it. Definitely come and eat here. Absolutely recommend it. Ask for the tajadas!
