Very cozy place with beautiful views and very delicious food. The steak and shepherd tacos are highly recommended. We were lucky enough to attend one of their movie nights and we had a great time!

Great food such as Alambres and Ribs.nAlso definitely amazing cocktails.nIf you like spicy, you'll definitely enjoy this place.nAlso the manager is really nice, passionate and provide great advices.nTo finish, the view on the lake with the music is nice.nCheers.
Fantastic food and great atmosphere. Pricing is very reasonable!
Great authentic Mexican food, nice atmosphere and view of the river with a nice breeze. Excellent margaritas, super friendly staff/owners who really care. Highly recommended!
Nice rooftop terrace serving excellent coffee, craft beer (on draft!) and regional cuisine. The guacamole was among the best we had in 2 months of Mexico and Guatemala. The rest of the food was also nice. There is a nice breeze and you have a view of the river. Free WiFi, too.
This place was great! We showed up with 30 people, and they handled multiple orders per person, and the food was great!! It was a wait, but we understood, and the food was fresh. The service was great, and sitting in the fresh air hit the spot.
Had a bite to eat here for the 2nd time in a row. Friendly staff, music and delicious food. At a very friendly price!
This was an unexpected find and 100 % worth a visit. Very friend staff that speak excellent English. The food was delicious and the drinks too. Also not expensive at all with a good quality. Would come back anytime
Must eat when in Rio Dulce
If you’re looking for an authentic spot to enjoy amazing mezcal, a delicious margarita, a homemade burger served with fresh guacamole and artisan bread, and a one-of-a-kind lime and tequila cheesecake, this is the place for you. Perched on a rooftop overlooking the Rio, it offers a unique atmosphere with unforgettable drinks and food that hit just right. Don’t miss it! The owner and the staff are just amazingnGraciassss
Updated: After giving this place a more than fair review, the owner missed the point and then try’s to insult me. Some people never learn. I wish the guy well, but with his poor attitude, I will definitely not return, and the local business that referred me also will stop referring their customers. The owner deserves 1 star, but I refrained.nnAlthough not a good first impression, let’s start with the positive points. I would definitely say that the food was delicious, the craft beer and lemonade were very good and the prices were reasonable. The menu offered lots of choices and the view over-looking the lake and the outdoor atmosphere was great. The restaurant was clean and the tables and chairs were in good condition. They have a nice bathroom and an outdoor sink with soap. We were really impressed with the young waiter who checked on us often and was friendly and welcoming. A few things to consider is that the restaurant is on the second floor and only accessible by a staircase. And, I did not notice any fans and although we had a nice breeze, I can imagine that it could be uncomfortable on hot days, so a few fans would help. The cons were that the restaurant did not have any signage indicating the name, which resulted in us spending 20 minutes walking in circles looking for the place. This is unfortunate and not acceptable. The owner could have at least made a temporary sign. The weird thing was there were four other advertisements on the building: Coworkantina, El Zapote Brewery, Go Beyond and PLUR, but nowhere was there the name of the restaurant. To make matters worse, on our last attempt to find the place, we asked a guy who we saw before, outside the building, if this was Hoppy House Taberna. He said, yes. When I asked about the sign, he said, “I tried to tell you before but you ran away”. First, not a professional way to respond to guests, and second not an excuse for not having a sign. Whatever the reason, a temporary sign is the minimum courtesy one would expect. In addition, this same person who I assume was the owner or manager, never came up to us to ask how our food was or acknowledge us even though there was only one other table while we were eating. Maybe he was just having a bad day? Overall, I do give the restaurant a lot of credit for the great food, excellent service by the waiter and the cleanliness and nice atmosphere. Tip: When coming from La Torre supermarket, pass the alley for El Pinchos restaurant and turn left down the very next alley.
Everything was very good and very tasty, the service was excellent, they treated us very well and were attentive to our needs all the time, very happy and the atmosphere was very cheerful, good music and a very colorful place
From outside the local is not looking that attractive, but you should(!) join!nThe owner and his stuff are very friendly and polite.nThe beer is good and the food tastes amazing!nTo be honest the portion is not that big… but the taste is really good!nnIts cute here and I definitely recommend to visit this local!nn( I have to say that the toilets are the cleanest I found in Guatemala, Belize and Mexiko)nnGuten Appetit und Prost!
An amazing selection of food, bottled and draft beers, and alcohol is just the beginning.....you will find yourself coming back quickly, for breakfast, lunch and dinner, just like we did! The friendly, knowledgeable staff and the generous portions are what really pleased us. 100% recommend
Delightful spot with fantastic food (had concita pibil tacos), great drinks (had great draft beer and several great Guatemalan rums).nnHighly recommended. Going back today.
One of the best spots in town for a drink in a nice atmosphere. The owner Josué is super friendly and passionate about the drinks he serves in his bar. Gave us some marvelous tips about what to do in the neighborhood during our stay. Definitely a must visit when in Rio Dulce!
Although it is not named like an Mexican restaurant it is the best Mexican in Guatemala!nEveryday a different special, especially taco Tuesdays and Mexican rib Fridays are fantastic!nDefinitely a must visit if you are in Río Dulce!
Super rich site and attention a 10!
Super tasty and high quality food! The restaurant is difficult to find at first, but once you get there the place turns out to be a real treasure! The owners are extremely hospitable. The atmosphere on the roof terrace overlooking the river is very nice and the ambience with the music is excellent. There are options for both vegetarians and vegans, which are lovingly prepared. The taste is a 10/10 and the price can't be beat!
We are very enthusiastic about this restaurant. The owner is super friendly and when I asked if there were vegan dishes, the owner said that you could get almost all of the dishes vegan. We were particularly excited about the vegan tacos!nYou can put together smoothies yourself from different ingredients and the price is right too. We'll be back!
Homemade and delicious food. Very good prices
Great food, fantastic service, nice location!
Dinner with a large group of 16 with no booking. Service was excellent, had a good amount of English which was helpful.nnAtmosphere is great, good lighting and a projector. Music is not overtly loud. Nice views out over the water.nnAll the food came out without any issues. Tostadas were 10/10. Everything seemed to be freshly prepared and flavourful.nnGood selection of beers and cocktails. Food and drink very reasonably priced. Strawberry Daquiri was amazing, not overly sweet and ice cold fresh.
The food and atmosphere is amazing so much so that we went back 3 times in the 5 days spent in Rio Dulce. The ingredients are carefully selected and the recipes are authentic Mexican. Josué offered us an incredible service. He thoroughly explained to us the main meals and gave us information about main attractions in Rio dulce and surroundings. The atmosphere of the seating area is chill, with the tables facing the water and pleasant music playing. Came for the food, found much more!
enjoyed the food and the fun atmosphere as well as the spices marg!!
Nice ambience and very friendly server. Food was good. Would go again
During our stay in Rio Dulce we visited this place several times. We enjoyed the food a lot and appreciated that it is made with all natural ingredients. The smoothie options are great, and it was large! Also, the tacos and enchiladas I recommend. Josué the owner, was very friendly and gave us a lot of good advice on what to do during our stay :)
The friendly owners are not enough to make us forget the slow service, more than 1 hour of waiting for 2 really not good Milanese with 4 fries fighting a duel, a fajita and a taco, all far from unforgettable, it's too muchnNo, eat there, but the margaritas are excellent! Good place for an aperitif
Very long servicenYou don't have to be in a hurrynWhat a shame to leave there hungrynI do not recommend…
Great welcome from the owner Josué, good beers, good rums and fruit juices to compose yourself...nIn addition, if you need information on activities around Rio Dulce Josué gives very good advice.
Wonderful place!!!! We eat very well there and we find very good beers and very good rums. An incredible welcome from the owner!! He is gentle and takes great care of his customers. He takes to explaining his menu, his drinks and how each rum is produced and where!! All this in a very friendly jazzy atmosphere! With tavern lights and vinyl decorations. We recommend that you stop by! A real haven of peace in Rio Dulce!
Food is really good! Chicken burrito is amazing and the Michelada was the best one I’ve ever had.nnJosue, the bartender, had great ideas about how to best see rio dulce. Really a super nice guy!
I eat there often. The food is wonderful. I am always full from one entee. Things do not move fast in Rio Dulcie. It is the same in the restaurant because the food it prepared from scratch every time.
This place is amazing. The owners are so friendly and you can feel their passion as they explain their menu and how they source their ingredients. The food is very good at reasonable prices, the spicy margarita is phenomenal, the setting is very chill, and they have starlink internet. Instead of waiting for your boat at sundog or shuttle at colifato, take the 2 minute walk to coworkafe and tuck into some delicious food and a quality coffee. I stayed a few days in Rio Dulce and this place was a true hidden gem.
